Threshold Meditation: A New, Restorative Practice

Join us for a contemplative meditation session designed to offer rest, relaxation, and gentle recovery by observing the subtle transitions between waking, dream-like, and sleep-onset states. This practice can gradually influence sleep cycles, calm the nervous system, and offer a steadying composure. As awareness deepens, experiences such as inner spaciousness, joy, or peacefulness may naturally arise.
We practice seated with the back supported, typically, on a mat or cushion while leaning against the wall. If floor seating is uncomfortable, you may use a chair with a footrest or bring a portable reclining chair. The posture is simple, supported, and sustainable.
If there is interest, we hope to gather once a month, usually on the second Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Each session stands on its own, yet returning regularly can help establish a gentle rhythm and support the beginnings of a shared meditation community.

About Shashi Cooduvalli

Shashi grew up in India, where he completed his doctoral degree in biochemistry at the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyderabad. He later served as an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University and as an Associate Professor at The Pennsylvania State University. Now retired and living in Sun City, Bluffton, he has returned to his longstanding interest in the contemplative traditions of India.
He has been studying and practicing meditation for more than 25 years. His approach is steady, inquiry‑based, and grounded in the exploration of awareness and the movement of consciousness. He offers meditation as a way of living with clarity, presence, and inner ease.
